REFLECTION FOR OLD NATIONALS: THE FOUNDATION STATEMENT OF GHANA NATIONAL COLLEGE

"I look forward to the time when there will be a chain of Ghana Colleges in all the four territories which make up the Gold Coast, leading to the founding of a very high institution in this country. In the name of the people of the Gold Coast, in the name of humanity and in the name of Almighty God, I bid you speed forward till we realise a free and United Gold Coast in a United Africa." - Dr. Kwame Nkrumah at the opening of #GhanaColl in July, 1948 in Cape Coast

This piece of the speech by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is at the opening of Ghana National College sums up the vision the founder of the college held. The founder in my view, sought to build an afrocentric educational system underpinned by the tenets of nationalism, patriotism, leadership and exemplar. I see these tenets etched in the foundation of Ghana National College.

What have you done as an OLD NATIONAL (alumnus/  alumna) or a current NATIONAL (a current student), towards ACHIEVING THIS VISION?

WHAT ARE YOU GREAT FOR?: THE MUHAMMED ALI INSPIRATION

Erving Goffman in his Dramaturgical theory of society opined that, this life is a big theatrical stage and we are actors in it. Every actor plays his or her role and leaves the stage when done. So when dthis point of exit comes, does that signify the end of your role? In other words, do not let your role on stage affect just your performance on stage, but let it affect the whole 'plot of the play'.

This thought obviously seemed to be what the greats of this world, both the known and the unknown,  have used or applied. They have left indelible memories of their legacies on our minds not by way of any superhuman activities but what they could do best (abilities).

I refer to Muhammed Ali in my title because looking at the tributes all over social media on his death earlier today, got me thinking. Just hours after his death, Muhammed Ali was trending globally all over social media especially Facebook and Twitter. With all the trends, I have realised one word being associated with the legend  - GREATEST.
What made Ali referred to as G. O. A. T (Greatest Of All Time)? Just two things...... He said he was and he worked at being it. SIMPLE! Yes. His words and abilities are what made him an undisputable G. O. A. T. Like Ali, all other legends we know became greats because of the adroitness in their abilities. Every great must have a legacy, something to be remembered for. For instance
1. Muhammed Ali - Boxing
2. Kwame Nkrumah - Ghana, Africa Integration and Ghana National College, Cape Coast
3. Col. Muammar Gaddafi - Libya and Africa Integration
4. Rev. Isaac Opandoh - Bible teaching / The Second Coming
As you can see, these great men have passed on but people still remember or mention their names in one breadth or another because of their abilities. Not just possession of their abilities but they impacted the lives of people positively. That makes them greats.

My dear reader realise what is in you, work with it, impact another positively and tell yourself you are 'a great'. You don't need 100 people to be a GREAT; it could be just ONE person. In another vein, you could be a GREAT by being that lovely mom, caring dad, dependable sister, protective brother, nice boss, obedient subordinate, lovely husband, subservient wife, unconditional friend, industrious athlete.

"EVERY GREAT IS A GREAT AND EVERYONE CAN BE A GREAT...... EXCEPTIONAL EXCELLENCE makes you the GREATEST "

My Story of 36 Ghanaian Songs

MANSA is a beautiful lady. Her beauty astounds everyone including DOGO YARO especially if she's in her SKIN TIGHT. She used to be METANFO but now, my ODO for her is a CRAZY LOVE that I felt insecure when she went for the CONCERT PARTY with SEGBEFIA and had a DANCE with him......EKIKI ME! He had some tight SWAG but not for my BAAFIRA inspiration, I would have lost hope. He was not a BROTHER BROTHER but still..... YEWO KROM!
I remember when she got pregnant she had no one in THE WORLD because she was not FAITHFUL. So she had to TELEMO her burdens and PULL UP herself. So she looked up to ADONAI, the MIGHTYLELE by attending THE CRUSADE and shouting AMEN to every HALLELUJAH. It happened that she ignored THE WARNING about the use of LATEX. She said, "The SKOLOM was BOKOR BOKOR or SMALL SMALL so I least expected a pregnancy"....... AY3 LATE sister.
She has however swore to herself that, "WALAHYI I will GO HIGHER till MEWU........ It is a matter of CHOICES". This makes ANGELINA full of JEALOUSY but I remain FAITHFUL.
If NYAME DADAW permits or BUE KWAN aa, I will continue.
